• Freedom 250 display to light up Washington Monument for New Year's Eve (fox5dc.com) — If you’re ringing in the new year in DC, the Washington Monument will light up tonight with massive Freedom 250 projections and a midnight fireworks show on the National Mall. The free, no-ticket event runs from 7 p.m. to 12:06 a.m., kicking off a year-long celebration of America’s 250th birthday and will also be streamed online.
