Is Prevention the Missing Piece in the Fight Against Drugs?
Community gathers to Educate, Empower, Engage and share tools for a healthier, drug-free future.

Waldorf, MD – September 6, 2025 – Saturday’s E3 event in Waldorf, Maryland, served as a vibrant community gathering point, offering attendees a blend of education, empowerment, and engagement. E3 – short for Educate, Empower and Engage – is a recurring community event designed to bring together local organizations, families, and leaders to share resources, celebrate positive initiatives, and strengthen connections across the region.
While the Waldorf event followed the familiar E3 model of networking and outreach, it also provided a unique opportunity to spotlight Anthony Butler, whose use of Foundation for a Drug-Free World materials has had a profound impact on individuals and families.
During the event, Butler shared a powerful story about the Truth About Fentanyl booklets. On a previous occasion, after he placed the booklets out, a woman he knew picked one up and was moved to tears. She explained that her two sons battled crack addiction, and that she had only first learned the word “fentanyl” during their struggles. Seeing the dangers clearly laid out in the booklet, she thanked Butler for making the information widely available.

“That moment changed me,” Butler said. “At first, I hadn’t even read the booklets – I had only agreed to put them out. But after her reaction, I sat down and read them myself. The data hit me: these are truths people need to see. It showed me that even small actions can make a huge difference.”
During the E3 event, Butler offered a tour of his facility, where he outlined his forward-looking vision. He emphasized his commitment to expanding community outreach and creating new platforms for education, communication, and positive influence. His goal, he explained, is to show that entrepreneurship includes not only building a business and making money but being a leader in the community and help one’s fellows out in the way that only he can, to reach the audiences that only he can reach.

“My goal is to help entrepreneurs become leaders in their community in order to effect the needed changes for that community to thrive.” Butler noted. “The data provided in these booklets is good data and it does a world of good for the community. It just needs to be gotten into the right hands.”
At the event, attendees had their choice in Drug-Free World booklets, covering the effects of marijuana, opioids, fentanyl, crack cocaine and prescription misuse. One attendee shared plans to bring the materials to his churches in Washington, D.C., and to use them with his Boy Scout troop—an example of how a single booklet can ripple outward to new audiences.
