WASHINGTON — Some schools remain closed and hundreds of vehicles were stuck on I-95 overnight after a winter storm blanketed Washington, D.C., and parts of Virginia in snow. According to the National Weather Service, 11.5 inches of powder accumulated in the D.C. suburb of Capitol Heights while Rose Hill, Virginia, saw a cool 10 inches by the time the storm ended Monday evening.
Travel was also affected, as Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport got 6.7 inches of snow and farther south near Chancellorsville, a whopping 12.1 inches was reported.
The Associated Press reported that Virginia saw more than 600 traffic accidents, including a crash with six tractor-trailers, causing a standstill on the I-95. No injuries were reported in the crash.

Not only were schools and offices closed on Monday, but pretty much all of Washington shuttered. Four Smithsonian museums that were previously boarded up due to a Covid-19 outbreak remained closed, while the National Zoo shut down entirely.
