Suspicious Vehicle Near White House Sends Authorities Scrambling
A section of a sidewalk outside the White House was closed Thursday morning due to a suspicious vehicle spotted near Lafayette Park.

(Updated at 11:30 a.m. Thursday): WASHINGTON, DC — The U.S. Secret Service spotted a suspicious vehicle near Lafayette Park and closed a section of a sidewalk outside the White House Thursday morning.
Officers responded to the area near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue at about 10 a.m. and remain on the scene.
Police said 17th Street was closed to vehicles from New York Avenue to Eighth Street. The North fence line of the White House was closed to pedestrians.

The vehicle was cleared by about 11 a.m. and all road closures were lifted.
