Washington DC School Calendar 2018-19: First Day Of School

WASHINGTON, DC — The first day of school in D.C. is August 20 — and whether you and the kids are looking forward to the new school year or are dreading the end of summer, you’ll want to mark the date on your calendar ASAP. The Washington DC School District has released its 2018-2019 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

• 9/3: No School (Labor Day)

October

• 10/8: No School (Columbus Day)
• 10/25: No School (Professional Development)
• 10/26: No School (Professional Development)

November

• 11/6: No School (Parent Teacher Conference Day)
• 11/21 - 11/22: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/24 - 12/31: No School (Holiday Recess)

January

• 1/1: No School (Holiday Recess)
• 1/21: No School (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
• 1/22 - 1/23: No School (Professional Development)

February

• 2/18 - 2/22: No School (Winter Recess)

March

• 3/8: No School (Parent Teacher Conferences)

April

• 4/4 - 4/5: No School (Professional Development)
• 4/15 - 4/19: No School (Spring Recess)

May

• 5/27: No School (Memorial Day)
