A first look at New Year's Eve suggests it will be a cold one, with a threat for snow showers to usher in the new year. Here's the forecast
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The final week of 2016 will be a wild mix of 60-degree weather, two chances for snow showers and lows dipping into the mid-20s. And one of those chances for snow showers is New Year's Eve, according to the National Weather Service.
There's a chance for rain through mid-day Tuesday, with the high reaching 63 degrees.
Expect a much colder Wednesday, with highs reaching near 50 degrees, with a chance for rain or snow showers Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, according to the weather service. The chance for any precipitation is 50 percent.

Friday's high will be near 42 degrees, with temperatures Friday night falling to a low around 27 degrees.
New Year's Eve will be cool and sunny, with a chance for rain and snow showers Saturday night and early New Year's Day. The chance for precipitation is 30 percent.

Tonight: A chance of showers after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47. South wind 5 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Tuesday: A chance of showers before 1pm. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 63. Southwest wind 7 to 13 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 50. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph.
Wednesday Night: A chance of rain and snow showers after 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 35. South wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Thursday: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 50. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 42.
Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 27.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 43.
Saturday Night: A chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
