Trump is scheduled to speak at the conservative summit at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time.
Donald Trump was scheduled to speak Friday afternoon at the Values Voter Summit, an annual political conference of socially conservative figures in Washington, D.C.
The group holds strong anti-abortion and anti-same-sex marriage stances and has featured guests such as Sean Hannity and Mitt Romney. The event this year is being held at the Omni Shore Hotel from Sept. 9 through 11.
Trump is scheduled to address the conference at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time, as the GOP nominee is making steady polling gains in swing states but finds himself embroiled in yet another controversy — this time for his lavish praise of Russian demagogue Vladimir Putin.

After Trump praised Putin in a national security forum Wednesday night, the Trump campaign doubled down on its support of the dictator Thursday, suggesting the New York businessman prefers authoritarian-style leadership over a democratic one and even cited that Putin enjoys 82 percent support.
His vice-presidential pick, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, added to the campaign's Putin praise Thursday.
"I think it's inarguable that Vladimir Putin has been a stronger leader in his country than Barack Obama has been in this country," Pence told CNN.
Trump later appeared on Russian-owned television to take more shots at the American political press and American foreign policy. He suggested on Kremlin television that Russia wasn't actually behind the hack of Democratic National Committee emails, in direct contradiction with what top U.S. security officials believe.
“I think it’s probably unlikely (Russia was behind the hack). I think maybe the Democrats are putting that out. Who knows? But I think that it’s pretty unlikely,” he said. “I hope that if they are doing something I hope that somebody’s going to be able to find out so they can end it, because that would not be appropriate.”
