White Christmas For NoVA, DC? Temps To Hit 50s Ahead Of Holiday

VIRGINIA — With only three days left until Christmas, it doesn't look like DC and northern Virginia residents will see a white Christmas this year, according to the National Weather Service. You might say it would be a miracle if snow fell in the region in time for the holiday.

Temperatures will be in the 40s and 50s for most of the week, before warming up to 60 degrees on Christmas day, the weather service said.

Here's the forecast for the rest of Christmas week:

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 47. Northwest wind 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 41 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 25. Northwest wind 6 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.

Thursday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 44. Light and variable wind becoming southwest 5 to 7 mph in the morning.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. South wind 5 to 8 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Friday: Cloudy, with a high near 54. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Christmas Eve: A chance of showers before 2am, then a slight chance of showers after 5am. Cloudy, with a low around 43. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Christmas Day: Partly sunny, with a high near 60.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 46.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 57.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39.
