MIAMI BEACH, FL — Mixed martial artist and boxer Conor McGregor has been arrested in Miami Beach following an altercation with a 22-year-old man from England who tried to snap his photo with a cell phone.

Ernesto Rodriguez of the Miami Beach Police Department said Monday night that McGregor was charged with strong-arm robbery and criminal mischief involving $1,000 or more.

Arrest documents said the 30-year-old McGregor was taken into custody following an incident that occurred with Ahmed Abdirzak as the fighter was leaving the iconic Fontainebleau Miami Beach Hotel. It happened around 5:20 a.m.

"The defendant slapped the victim's phone out of his hand, causing it to fall to the floor," arrest documents said. "The defendant then picked up the victim's phone and walked away with it, depriving him of it."

McGregor, who listed his address as a $4.9 million waterfront mansion in Miami Beach, was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami, according to Rodriguez.

"Patience in this world is a virtue I continue to work on," McGregor posted on his Instagram account early Tuesday morning after being released from jail. "I love my fans dearly. Thank you all."

He also retweeted video of himself going for a run in Miami Beach.

In July of 2018, McGregor pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in exchange for community service to settle charges stemming from a backstage tussle at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.

The Irish fighter was ordered to be evaluated for anger management classes and five days of community service at that time after throwing a hand truck into a bus window at the Fort Greene arena.
