5 Juveniles Detained In Atlantic Station Shooting
A large crowd of juveniles were accused of being disruptive at Atlantic Station, where fireworks sparked and a shootout occurred.
ATLANTA, GA — Five juveniles were detained after a crowd of youths gathered Saturday at Atlantic Station, where fireworks were ignited and a shooting damaged local businesses, Atlanta Police said Sunday.
APD responded to assist Atlantic Station's security with a call regarding juveniles fighting around 7:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of Market Street Southwest, police said.
At the time, WAGA-TV reported about 500 teenagers were in the area causing a large disturbance.

During the investigation, police said they determined fireworks had been lit in and around Atlantic Station. State authorities then arrived to help disperse the crowd.
"Once they got them across the bridge, there was no patrol over on this side to make sure that they dispersed," Jedi Niyomkul, general manager of Nan Thai, told WAGA-TV. "Literally at 17th and Spring, right there, 100 to 150 kids just sitting all around the corner, doing absolutely nothing, just looking for trouble."

At about 9:45 p.m., police said officers saw a group of juveniles exchanging gunfire near 17th and Spring streets.
Nearby businesses and a vehicle were damaged in the shootout, police said. No one was injured.
Police did not identify the juveniles who were detained.
