1 Dead, 1 At Large In Brookhaven Shooting

Brookhaven Police say the murder suspect should be "considered armed and dangerous."

BROOKHAVEN, GA — Police say they are searching for a 31-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting of another person Sunday in the 3600 block of Buford Highway.

Brookhaven Police said they are seeking the whereabouts of Carlos Meza Ignacio after a shooting killed the person who he had been drinking with inside an apartment. The deadly shooting happened around 2:45 a.m.

While they were drinking, police said an argument sparked regarding Ignacio's suspected possession of a firearm. Ignacio was accused of then shooting the person, who was not identified, and the person died of their injuries.

Police said Ignacio was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, brown shorts and a black hat. He has a scar on his left eye and multiple tattoos, including: a horse on his left forearm, Saint Jude on his back and lettering on his neck.

"At this time, no vehicle information is available. Authorities caution that Meza Ignacio should be considered armed and dangerous and urge the public not to approach him," police said in a news release.

Warrants have been issued to charge Ignacio with murder, first-degree and third-degree cruelty to children, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and criminal damage to property, police said.
