Airport Welcomes 100 Millionth Passenger With Big Prizes

The busiest airport in the world set a new milestone on Sunday.


ATLANTA, GA -- The world’s busiest airport showed just how busy it was on Sunday when its 100 millionth passenger of 2015 walked through the concourse.

Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport welcomed passenger #100,000,000, aka Larry Kendrick of Biloxi, MS, with a new car, two round-trip tickets to anywhere in the world, and a $500 gift card, Atlanta Business Chronicle says.

No airport has ever recorded that many passengers in one year, WSB-TV reports.

To put the number of passengers passing through Atlanta into persepective: Dec. 27 was the 361st day of the year. That means just over 277,008 people passed through the airport every single day this year. That’s about 11,542 people an hour, 192 people a minute, and 3 people a second.
