Convicted Gun Trafficker Arrested In Brookhaven
The man convicted of gun charges was named among Canada's Top 25 Most Wanted list and was arrested in Brookhaven.
BROOKHAVEN, GA — A suspected gang member named a most wanted fugitive in Canada was recently arrested in Brookhaven, according U.S. immigration officials.
The arrest of Kamar Cunningham came after he neglected to appear for a sentencing on gun charges in May 2021, according to the Toronto (Canada) Police Service.
Cunningham, accused of being a 5PG gang member, was named on Canada's Top 25 Most Wanted list, according to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. ICE on Tuesday said he is in their custody.

Of Jamaican descent, the 43-year-old Canadian national was initially arrested in June 2018 on charges of firearms trafficking, possession of prohibited or restricted firearms and participation in the activities of a criminal organization for the purposes of enhancing the ability of the organization to commit the offense of importing firearms, Toronto Police said.
Cunningham was convicted on Nov. 27, 2020 and was supposed to appear for a May 2021 sentencing; however, Toronto Police said he was not present in court. He was sentenced to nine years in absentia, meaning in his absence, police said.

A warrant was then issued for his arrest on May 4, 2021, police said.
