Hurricane Irma: 31 Roads Are 'Blocked Or Compromised' In Brookhaven, Police Say

Brookhaven awoke Tuesday to downed power lines and 31 road closures due to the effects of Hurricane Irma.

BROOKHAVEN, GA -- About 31 roads in Brookhaven early Tuesday were "blocked or compromised" from the effects of Hurricane Irma, police said. Efforts were underway in DeKalb County to restore power to thousands of residents still without electricity after the remnants of Irma thrashed metro Atlanta.

Metro Atlanta will get a respite from heavy rain for much of Tuesday, but it will return in the afternoon as the effects of Irma continue to move north, according to the National Weather Service.
