Rapper Young Thug Freed From Jail After Brookhaven Arrest

Rapper Young Thug arrested in Brookhaven on drug and gun charges after being pulled over Sunday on Clairmont Road in DeKalb County.

BROOKHAVEN, GA -- Atlanta rapper Young Thug was once again arrested by local authorities, this time in Brookhaven, Patch has learned. The artist, whose real name is Jeffrey Lamar Williams, appeared in court Wednesday on charges related to drugs and guns, local media reported.

A 2016 Mercedes Benz Maybach with Williams and two other people inside was pulled over Sunday on Clairmont Road on suspicion of the tint being too dark, according to news accounts culled from a Brookhaven police report. Williams, 26, was charged with possession of Xanax and marijuana with intent to distribute and possession, along with ecstasy and codeine. Authorities also seized about $50,000 in cash from the trio, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Co-defendant Cedric Jones is also facing gun charges, the newspaper reports. It is unclear if a third man with them was charged.

Williams' attorney said that he is working diligently to free the rapper, who is one of the biggest names in hip-hop.
“I will do everything that is lawful and ethical to clear Mr. Williams of this false allegation,” attorney Brian Steel was quoted as saying.

Williams bonded out of jail shortly after the court hearing, TMZ reports.

The rapper has found stardom nationally but incidents of legal troubles locally. In March,Williams and his fiancée were leaving a College Park bar and lounge when he allegedly slapped a woman, as Patch previously reported.

In December, the rapper was arrested at Lenox Square in Buckhead in connection with an outstanding warrant.
