Seniors Unite for Pink Power Events

Residents of Ashford Parkside/Landings Community host Breast Cancer Awareness Events

The day started early for these residents of Ashford Parkside/Landing Senior Community on October 21st. In solidarity with Breast Cancer warriors and survivors they donned their pink for the 2nd Annual Pink Power Walk. The Walk was followed later that day by Awareness seminars presented by a Nutritionist focused on Nutritious meal planning to combat cancer, Dr Anthony Scott, Breast Surgeon, with Northside Hospital Breast Center and Amira Karriem, Breast Navigator, with Emory St Joseph Breast Center. They were all able to share updated information on diagnosis and treatment for Breast cancer and it's prevention. Particular focus this year was on the increased number of elderly patients receiving an initial diagnosis and the disparities minority females face. Residents were able to ask relavent questions and were given handouts and keepsakes to continue their awareness. All residents in attendance were grateful for the opportunity to be informed and left with increased awareness.
