Georgia's unemployment rate is declining. Tell us your thoughts.

State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler announced_Thursday that Georgia’s  unemployment rate declined for the seventh consecutive month to 9.1 percent - the lowest those numbers had been since March 2009.  In a prepared statement, Butler said the state created 15,600 jobs, many of those filled by unemployed residents of the state.

The Department of Labor reports that the number of jobs in February increased to 3,880,400, with 70 percent of the February growth coming in the private sector. Also, newly revised numbers show the state gained 41,800 jobs in the past 12 months. Although Georgia's unemployment rate remains higher than the national average of 8.3 percent, Butler said the numbers are a sign that businesses are trending toward a comeback.
