2 Dead In Shooting After iPhone Alerts Douglas Co. Deputies

An iPhone with an automated alert system notified deputies of a crash, but Douglas Co. authorities say they did not find signs of a crash.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A 17-year-old girl and a 19-year-old man were recently shot and killed in the 3200 block of West Stewart Mill Road, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.

An iPhone with an automated alert system notified deputies of a crash early Saturday morning.

Authorities said when deputies arrived at the scene, they did not find signs of a crash, but they did find two people suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in the front seats of a car.

In critical condition, the two people were taken to a hospital, where they died of their injuries, authorities said.

The sheriff's office identified them as Beatriz Vega, 17, and Roberto Deleon, 19.

Potential suspects in the shooting were not identified.
