Douglas County Schools has been recognized by Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) as an exemplary school board. GSBA designed its program to showcase best practices in school governance and leadership, the district said in a news release.

“This status is just one of many steps our school board has taken to advance student learning and achievement," superintendent Trent North said in the release. "By showing proficiency in strategic planning, fiscal responsibility, and ethics, our board members can better serve our school system and our students. This honor has emboldened us to continue our work providing a world-class education to every student.”
The GSBA Governance Team Recognition Program was developed by Georgia superintendents and board members based on the State Board of Education’s standards for effective governance. In 1998, the Georgia School Boards Association was one of the first school board associations in the nation to develop a program of standards for local boards of education. For more information on the program, visit the GSBA website for awards and recognition.
