Ex-Douglas Co. Jailer Accused Of Having Sex With An Inmate Arrested

The former 34-year-old Douglas County jailer is facing charges after being accused of having sexual relations with an inmate.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A former Douglas County jailer has been arrested after being accused of having sexual relations with an inmate.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office on Thursday said former jailer Jayavierre Johnson, 34, was arrested Wednesday and charged on suspicion of three counts of sexual assault by a correctional/juvenile facility employee after an internal probe.

Johnson will appear for a bond hearing Friday, and he was fired from his job at the sheriff's office, authorities said.

“This kind of behavior will not be tolerated,” Douglas County Tim Pounds said in a news release. “I want my employees and the public to know that we are committed to transparency, professionalism and protecting the integrity of this office. I will not ‘put up with no foolishness,’ and I expect the same level of accountability from everyone that works here.”
