Man Uploaded Child Porn To Social Media App, Douglas Co. Authorities Say

Twenty videos and two images of suspected child pornography were uploaded to the social media app, Kik, Douglas County authorities say.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA — A Douglas County resident is facing charges of sexual exploitation of children after being accused of using the social media app, "Kik," to upload child pornography, authorities said Tuesday.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office began investigating on June 24 after receiving cyber tips regarding possible child pornography from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, authorities said. They did not specify where in Douglas the incident occurred.

The cyber tips disclosed 20 videos and two images of suspected child pornography, also known as child sexual abuse material, had been uploaded from two Kik accounts, authorities said.

They added they were able to use a phone number with an IP address to track the uploads to a Douglas County home, where authorities say they executed a search warrant.

Multiple electronic devices were seized, and a forensic download was later completed, authorities said. One of the devices contained the same videos and images supplied in the cyber tips, authorities said.
