Overnight Lane Closure Planned On I-20 In Douglas County: GDOT

The lane closure starts at 9 p.m. Friday and will remain through 5 a.m. Saturday, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA — Douglas County drivers should expect delays on Interstate 20 near Highway 92 this weekend, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced.

GDOT contractors will close one lane of I-20 near the Hwy. 92/Fairburn Road exit from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday. The closures are related to continuing repairs and rehabilitation of several bridges along the interstate.

Bridge rehabilitation includes raising the structures' vertical clearance, bridge deck preservation, painting of steel beams, joint replacement where necessary and stabilizing the superstructures and substructures.

Motorists will be alerted of the closures by signage, cones and barrels in the area. GDOT officials said to expect delays and use detours, exercise caution and reduce speed while traveling through work zones.
