Dunwoody Police Department Joins 'Near Miss' Program
The Dunwoody Police Department has signed on to participate in the LEO Near Miss program.

DUNWOODY, GA -- The Dunwoody Police Department has signed on to participate in the LEO Near Miss program, a law enforcement reporting system that shares accounts of "close calls, or near misses," incidents which could provide educational opportunities to residents and authorities.

The aim of the LEO Near Miss initiative is to "share stories from law enforcement agencies from around the country. This will ultimately enhance the safety and vigilance of our officer’s so we can identify trends and certain risk factors that we face daily," Dunwoody PD said in a news release.

Local authorities hope to adjust training methods and responses based on the information culled from the program.
According to the Police Foundation, “A near miss is a close call and/or unsafe occurrence that could have resulted in a serious injury or fatality if not for a fortunate break in the chain of events.”
