There is a good example in this letter to the editor below.

While I agree that most people who want to move to the Good Old USA are honest, hard working folks, they are still not immigrants, but rather, criminals when they cross our border against our laws.

One aspect of the emigration law, is to not let criminals and terrorists into the country, but to allow honest hard working folks a chance to come here.

When they are not screened according to the law, you just don't know what you might get.

ONE INDISPUTABLE "FACT" IS THAT IF THE MURDERER DOES NOT GET INTO THE COUNTRY, THEN HE CANNOT KILL ANYONE IN THE COUNTRY!

To the editor:
“Nursing Student Killed by Illegal Immigrant in Georgia” The media headlines screamed all around the country! There are about 800 homicides committed in Georgia each year and none has received as much media attention as this one
It may surprise you but there is abundant evidence that immigration is not linked to higher crime rates!
The arrest rate for illegal immigrants was 40% below that of native-born Americans and the homicide arrest 46% lower than the one for native-born Americans (Nowrasteh 2018).
As a group, immigrants have had lower incarceration rates than the US-born for 150 years. Moreover, relative to the US-born, immigrants’ incarceration rates have declined since 1960: immigrants today are 60% less likely to be incarcerated (Abramitzky, et.al 2023).
Higher immigration and lower crime rates:
As the number of immigrants in the United States has risen in recent years, crime rates have fallen. Between 1990 and 2013 FBI data indicate that the violent crime rate declined 48%. The evidence is clear, we need to stop demonizing immigrants as criminals!
