If you are tired of Big City Congestion and would rather live in a calmer space, may I suggest Thomaston, Georgia. Just 60 miles south of the Atlanta airport, and only 75 miles from downtown Atlanta, it is growing at a healthy rate, but still a peaceful place to reside.

Excellent schools with a variety of residential areas, including acreage with horses and cattle. The quaint downtown square contains one of the prettiest court houses in the state, supplemented by a brand new thirty million dollar Justice Center just one mile south of the square.

Also a brand new fire department facility, in support of a modern City Police Department and also County Sherriff's Department located in the County Seat of Thomaston, Upson County. The Upson Regional Medical Center is one of the best hospitals outside of major cities in the state, and is located just across the street from an efficient and modern public library.

Shopping includes Home Depot, Walmart, Belk's, and Walgreens. A new Marriott hotel will open in the near future, just two blocks off the square. There are four Supermarkets, including a, soon to open, new Aldi's. There are also numerous local farm operations selling fresh fruits and vegetables during season, which include in abundance, peaches, strawberries, tomatoes.

Five miles outside of town, there is a modern regional airport with a six thousand + foot runway, surrounded by several modern commercial/industrial complexes. The growth rate is healthy and the living is easy in this "Cross Roads" Town.

Yes the big city sprawl of Atlanta is headed our way, but the major impact is still a few decades away, so now is a great time to be living in Small Town, USA!
