  1. The Cobb County Board of Commissioners recently approved creating the Brookcliff street light district in a unanimous vote earlier this week. Seventy-five percent of Brookcliff subdivision residents voted in favor of putting up streetlights to help improve safety, but other residents weren't on board with the cost associated with installing the lights. 2. The Atlanta Community Food Bank is opening a new brick-and-mortar food pantry in Marietta. The former Family Dollar location will now serve as an 8,320-square-foot community food center, with an opening date slated for sometime next week. The Marietta location is expected to directly distribute food to roughly 700 families each week. (Subscription: Marietta Daily Journal)
  3. Heads up, pet owners: Cobb Animal Service officials have issued a scam alert. Animal Services said that it received more than a dozen reports of people receiving calls from numbers claiming to be from the department and demanding money for lost pets.
