Cobb Food Scores: Marietta Diner, Another Broken Egg Cafe, Tonita's

COBB COUNTY, GA — If you're looking for a place to grab a bite to eat, take a look at the latest scores for Cobb restaurants and food-service operations inspected by the state health department in the last week.

Of the 100 Cobb County eateries inspected since March 24 — the last time Patch posted a restaurant roundup for the area — a total of 71 restaurants received grades of A and 18 received grades of B. None received a C, but one failed: Tonita's Restaurant in Mableton.

According to the inspection report, Tonita's received 11 violations during its March 30 inspection, including violations for improper food storing temperatures; not washing hands between touching raw meat and cleaning food prep surfaces; storing food in the same ice machine used for customer drinks; and having cracks in the sliding glass door for the reach-in cooler.

Most of the violations were corrected during the inspection.

Each item on an inspection form has a point value ranging from 1 to 9 points, with violations deducting points from the best possible score of 100. Higher points are taken for items with higher risk to cause illness, while repeat violations take even more points.

Letter grades assigned are A for totals of 100 to 90 points, B for 89 to 80, C for 79 to 70 and U for less than 70.
