Kennesaw Avenue Construction Begins Monday, Will Last 6 Months
Construction on the Kennesaw Avenue Streetscape Project started March 8, stretching from Church Street to the Marble Mill Road area.
MARIETTA, GA — Construction crews began construction on the Kennesaw Avenue Streetscape Project on Monday, according to the city of Marietta.
Construction on the project, which stretches from Church Street to the Marble Hill Road area, is expected to last about six months.

- New pedestrian mid-block crosswalks at St. Mary's Lane, Stewart Avenue and Maple Avenue;
- Street sign upgrades;
- Brick crosswalks at Traditional Way; Park Manor and Atwood drives; Dickson, Stewart and Maple avenues; St. James Place; St. Anne's Road; St. Mary's Lane; and Nelson, Holland, Church and Cherokee streets
- 41 new decorative street lights along Kennesaw Avenue;
- A landscaped median on Kennesaw just south of Maple;
- Landscaping installation in the existing greenspace of Monarch Park
The city of Marietta budgeted $1 million for these improvements via the 2016 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) money, though the city does not anticipate spending that much, according to the Marietta Daily Journal.
Construction work is expected to affect traffic on Kennesaw Avenue for the next six months.
