COBB COUNTY, GA — A Cobb County Public Library staffer and Kennesaw State University graduate may not have won first place in the "Jeopardy! National College Championship," but he did still score a pretty big cash prize.

Raymond Goslow, senior library assistant for periodicals and a December grad of KSU, represented the university in the contest as one of 36 contestants. Under the game rules, participants were required to be full-time undergraduates, age 18 or older and have no prior bachelor's degree.

While Goslow is now a graduate of KSU, he was a senior when the show was filmed Nov. 20-23 in Culver City, California. He graduated in December with his bachelor's degree in geographic information science (GIS), and now works for the Cobb County Public Library system.

The show debuted Feb. 8, and Goslow beat out competitors from Harvard University, Georgetown University and others to advance to the finals.

Goslow placed second in the final round, which aired Tuesday night, against one student from Northeastern University and one from the University of Texas. He walked away with a cash prize of $100,000.

“Going on Jeopardy would have been the experience of a lifetime no matter what, but it was extra special to be a part of this tournament where the stakes and the audience will be bigger than ever," Goslow said in a news release. "It was so fun to bring our ‘primetime energy’ to the stage that I’ve been seeing on TV for almost 20 years."

Jaskaran Singh from UT won first place, earning the $250,000 grand prize with a score of $51,700, the Marietta Daily Journal reported. Goslow placed second with a score of $46,999, and Liz Feltner of Northeastern placed last. She still walked away with a $50,000 prize.

KSU hosted a watch party for Goslow, which he attended, and students packed in to cheer him on and get a chance to meet him.

"I never expected this much support," Goslow told WSB-TV. "I'm so proud of my school and I know my school is so proud of me."

Two other Georgia students participated in the tournament, but they didn't advance to the finals: Claire Jackson from Spelman College and Elijah Odunade from the University of Georgia, WSB-TV reported.
