  1. Cobb County firefighters recently rescued a man from a burning home on Horseshoe Bend Road in Marietta, capturing the heroic act on their body cameras. Neighbors reported someone banging on the window before disappearing. The firefighters worked swiftly, with one team rescuing the victim from a back window, while another extinguished the blaze. Inside the smoke-filled house, they located the unconscious man on the bathroom floor, having been overcome by smoke and toxic gases while attempting to escape through a window. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
  2. Cobb County is hosting a free drive-thru-style Fall Festival of Fun at Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 4:00-10:00 p.m. Families are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes and can enjoy interactions with various characters like princesses, dinosaurs, pirates, and superheroes while driving through. Decorated vehicles will be featured in the Fun Auto Zone, and every child will receive a goodie bag from candy fairies. The Wheeler Band Booster Club has raised over $15,000 through a GoFundMe campaign for Madison Argo, the beloved band director at Wheeler High School in Cobb County who recently passed away at the age of 32. Argo, who was in his second year at Wheeler, was praised for his dedication to music education and his passion for marching band, having previously worked at schools in Alabama and Indiana and leading various musical performances, including in Ireland and at Walt Disney World.
