Marietta Opening New Pedestrian Bridge

The Mountain to River Trail Pedestrian Bridge will be part of a expanded trail system in Marietta and Cobb County, officials say.

MARIETTA, GA — A pedestrian bridge that's part of a planned expansive trail system in Marietta is opening this week.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Mountain to River Trail Pedestrian Bridge is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday at 358 West Atlanta St. in Marietta. The bridge near Brown Park is part of a trail that's been 15 years in the making, according to city officials.

It stretches from Kennesaw Mountain through Marietta Square and to the city limits at Atlanta Street. That trail, city leaders say, will serve as the backbone for a planned trail system that will connect pedestrians and cyclists from throughout Marietta.
