🌱 Marietta Student Hit By School Bus + Art In The Park This Weekend

  1. A Wheeler High School student is in the hospital after being hit by a school bus on Friday, Aug. 25. The sophomore student was crossing Holt Street near the school when she was struck by a school bus, resulting in head trauma, a severed ear, a broken neck, and a broken hip. The student's family is questioning whether the bus driver is still employed, as well as if the district could station crossing guards in the area. (WSB-TV)
  2. A suspect has been arrested after a woman's body was found last week in Cobb County near a burned-out vehicle. The suspect — whose identity has not yet been released — was taken into custody in a Lousiana parish. Beauty Couch, 22, was an Instagram influencer from nearby Austell. Her body was found on Wednesday, Aug. 23 when crews responded to a brush fire and found a burning vehicle. (WSB-TV)
  3. Marietta's annual Art in the Park is set to take place this weekend from Sep. 2-4 at Glover Park. Roads will begin closing in downtown on Friday, Sep. 1 at 5:30 p.m. This event will feature an Artist Market with nearly 200 artists showcasing paintings, woodworking, photography, jewelry, sculptures, and more. The Chalk Spot will be available on Saturday, Sep. 2, and is a space for festival attendees to show off their sidewalk chalk skills. (Marietta Parks and Recreation via Facebook)
