🌱 MHS Student Killed In Car Crash + Grenades Found At Veteran's Home

- A Marietta High School (MHS) student-athlete was killed in a car crash on Monday, Sep. 18. According to Marietta police, the incident occurred on Burnt Hickory Road just after 5:30 p.m. and involved a 2016 Volvo that caught fire after colliding with a tree. Liv Teverino, 16, was a junior at Marietta High School and was fatally injured in the crash. MHS students shared memories of Teverino and described her as a kind and caring friend. Marietta police are continuing to investigate. (Atlanta News First)
- Cobb County police officers discovered multiple unexploded grenades in the home of a deceased veteran earlier this week. The grenades were at least 50 years old, and the Cobb bomb squad was called in to ensure the scene was safe. Police officers have not disclosed the veteran's identity or which war he was involved in. (WSB-TV)
- The City of Marietta is accepting attorney applications for the Marietta Ethics Committee. The Ethics Committee reviews complaints to determine whether or not city council members have violated their code of ethics. To qualify, applicants should be attorneys in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia and may not be former elected officials. Click here to learn more or submit an application.
