- The Marietta Police Department is asking for the community's help as they continue to search for a missing 66-year-old man. Keith Moore was reported missing on Wednesday, Aug. 2, and was last seen on Tuesday, Aug. 1, near Field Park Circle and Cobb Parkway North. Moore has dementia and is described as being five feet, ten inches tall, and weighing 185 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to call 911. (Atlanta News First)
- Seven firefighters in Cobb County have been accused of cheating on a certification exam. An internal investigation revealed that the firefighters collaborated and shared answers during the exam. Four of the accused firefighters were demoted from the rank of lieutenant to engineer, and another accused firefighter and two engineers were suspended without pay. Fire Chief William Johnson expressed his disappointment and emphasized that the department does not tolerate unethical behavior. (Patch)
- Seniors at Marietta High School honored a long-standing tradition by covering the school's parking lot and trees with toilet paper the night before students returned to class. Marietta City Schools staff members responded playfully in a social media post, saying, "So, the kids did a really great job last night, but we can do better." Images of the school show that the trees and school buildings were draped with copious amounts of tissue for the annual back-to-school prank. (11 Alive)
