Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:

  1. The Cobb County Department of Transportation announced that CobbLinc riders will be able to use the new Breeze 2.0 mobile app beginning in October. Breeze Mobile 2.0 has already been launched with the MARTA system and is the new system for transit riders to pay their fares. Officials with CobbDOT said that the system will be more convenient for transit riders and will provide cloud storage for passes, as well as free transfers to MARTA. (Cobb County Courier)
  2. The City of Marietta is leading the way with its use of technology to improve conditions for drivers. The city is the first in the country to integrate traffic data with Apple Maps, Waze app, and vehicles' built-in navigation systems. With this system, drivers will receive notifications about active school zones, approaching emergency vehicles and more. These alerts will be delivered through vehicles' navigation systems thanks to integration with Safety Cloud and Marietta's Travel Safely program. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
  3. Mark your calendars for the Cobb County Public Library's annual Fall Book Sale! This event will take place on Oct. 13-15 at the Cobb County Civic Center. The sale will be open from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday. There will be a wide selection of books, audiobooks, DVDs, and magazines ranging in price from 10 cents to $4.00. All proceeds benefit the Cobb County Public Library. (Cobb County Courier)
