- The Atlanta Community Food Bank has recently opened a new food center in Marietta. Since its opening last week, the food center has served nearly 200 households. Atlanta Community Food Bank CEO Kyle Waide emphasized that the new food center is aiming to serve families with low and moderate incomes who are under financial pressure. The center is currently operating with limited hours, but Waide said the center will soon be open for longer hours in order to serve more families. (11 Alive)
- Cobb County police reported that a hit-and-run accident on Monday, Aug. 31 has left one person dead. The incident occurred at Floyd Road and Maran Lane around 10:30 p.m. According to police, a pedestrian was crossing Floyd Road outside of the crosswalk when they were struck by a vehicle. Witnesses said that the vehicle stopped briefly before leaving the scene. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, and their identity has not yet been revealed. Anyone with information is asked to please contact the Cobb County Police Department at 770-499-3987. (WSBTV)
- The 2023 Glover Park Concert Series in Marietta Square has two more upcoming performances. On Aug. 25 at 8:00 p.m., Bogey and the Viceroy will take the stage to perform a mix of classic soul and today's popular hits. On Sep. 29 at 8:00 p.m., Grains of Sand will headline the show with beach, soul, and Motown tunes. While the concerts are free to attend, table reservations are now available for purchase for the upcoming August performance if you'd like a front-row seat. (Marietta Parks & Recreation via Facebook)
