  1. An Atlanta mother is speaking out after she says her son was racially profiled at an Office Depot in Marietta. On Sep. 13, Cassandra Wilcox sent her 21-year-old son, Anarrion Wilcox, to pick up an order of craft sublimation printers that she needed for a class she was scheduled to teach. The errand required Anarrion to go to two separate Office Depot stores. When he arrived at the location on Johnson Ferry Road, an employee called 911 and accused him of stealing the printers from both locations. Anarrion showed his receipts to the police when they arrived at the scene and was eventually able to leave after questioning. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
  2. Cobb County Animal Services reported that 31 dead cats were found in a Cobb County home. The discovery was made when police responded to the address for a welfare check, and police are currently attempting to locate the homeowner. Director of Cobb County Animal Services Steve Hammond said it is the largest number of deceased animals the department has seen in one location. Hammond said that the homeowner, once located, may face one felony charge of animal cruelty for each animal. (WSB-TV)
  3. Hispanic Heritage Month runs from Sep. 15-Oct. 15, and to celebrate, the Cobb County Public Library has shared a curated list of reading materials that highlight the voices and contributions of Hispanic Americans. The list includes selected items for children, teens, and adults that explore the achievements, history, and culture of the Hispanic community. You can see the full list of titles by clicking here.
