Tractor-Trailer Hits, Kills Pedestrian Walking Across I-75 In Marietta

MARIETTA, GA — A Marietta man died after a tractor-trailer hit him while he was walking across Interstate 75 last week, Marietta police said.

Just before 3 a.m. Thursday, Stefan Evans, 44, was crossing I-75 near the entrance ramp from South Marietta Parkway when a Freightliner hit him. The truck driver stayed on scene and cooperated with officers.

Evans died from his injuries. It's not clear why he was walking on the interstate.

All southbound lanes of I-75 were blocked for at least two hours while the investigation was underway, reopening just after 5 a.m., the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
