MARIETTA, GA — Police in Marietta are investigating a chaotic situation that broke out Sunday night at Andretti Indoor Karting and Games, as the sound of a gunshots and the sudden appearance of an armed person inside the businesses sent patrons scrambling, according to reports.

One witness who spoke to WSB-TV claimed he saw an attempted robbery that precipitated the shooting.

After the gunshots, the victim of the robbery — who was also armed — ran inside the gaming center.

The shootings, which started in the parking lot at around 7:30 p.m., did not leave any injuries, police said. In a subsequent statement released Monday, the department said that it is seeking information on a black 2018 Honda Accord captured on surveillance footage.

A group of people were seen exiting the vehicle in the Andretti parking lot at 1255 Roswell Road.

The police statement continues:

One of the suspects approached a man who was walking from his vehicle toward the business. That suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded his jewelry and money. The victim refused to comply and the suspect immediately fired at least two rounds, with neither round striking the victim. The victim was also armed and produced his handgun but did not return fire.

About a minute after the shots were fired, a Marietta officer working a part time security job pulled into the parking lot, where he was confronted by witnesses to the shooting — at the same time, the suspects fled the area.

Police are now looking for the vehicle, "which appears to have damage to the passenger side and the front right tire has been replaced with a spare/temporary wheel."
