Qualifying Closes In Smyrna, Vinings: See Who's On The May Primary Ballot

The candidate qualifying period for the May 24 primaries closed Friday, and most races will have opposition in Smyrna-Vinings.

SMYRNA-VININGS, GA — Qualifying for the May 24 primary and nonpartisan elections in Georgia closed Friday, and most Smyrna-Vinings legislators and representatives will have opposition this year.

Ballots for Smyrna and Vinings voters will include county commissioners in districts 1 and 3; school board members in districts 2, 4 and 6; solicitor general; superior court judge; state court judges; state Senate districts 6 and 38; state House districts 40, 41 and 42; and U.S. House of Representatives districts 11 and 13.

There will also be cityhood questions for the proposed city of Vinings, depending on where you live, as well as a nonpartisan election for the City Council Ward 2 seat since Austin Wagner, the former representative, stepped down.

The ballots will also include statewide elections, such as governor, secretary of state, attorney general, agriculture commissioner, insurance commissioner, state school superintendent and labor commissioner.
