See The Plans For Cobb County's Lower Roswell Road Project
Cobb County is hosting a virtual open house on the Lower Roswell Road project, in which residents can submit comments or ask questions.
COBB COUNTY, GA — Cobb County residents can take a peek at the plans for — and submit official comments on — the Lower Roswell Road transportation project through the end of the month.
Cobb County Department of Transportation staff are providing a virtual open house through an online platform for the public to view the concept plans and fact sheets about the project. Residents can view the info and submit comments until April 30.
The project is part of the voter-approved 2011 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST), and includes a combination of intersection improvements, a raised median, bicycle lanes and sidewalks as a means of improving traffic flow and safety along Lower Roswell Road.

The project includes adding a raised median along Lower Roswell Road between Johnson Ferry and Davidson roads, therefore reducing the left turn conflicts with through traffic, county officials said. This would have a twofold effect by potentially reducing the number of crashes.
On the west end of the project, pavement marking improvements on Lower Roswell Road are proposed between Woodlawn Drive and Johnson Ferry Road, which are aimed at improving capacity and operations. Additionally, an 8-foot multi-use trail and bike lanes will be extended from the existing facilities at Davidson Road to Woodlawn Drive, per the Board of Commissioners' adopted Master Trails and Greenways Plan.

The proposed plans eliminates particular types of crashes that occurred during the three-year study period of the area, which were from 2016-18. Cobb transportation officials anticipate a potential 72 percent reduction in crashes with a median between Johnson Ferry and Davidson roads.
Right-of-way acquisition is slated to start this year, with construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in 2022.
