- Local educators are speaking out regarding the new directive from Marietta City Schools on controversial books. Cobb County Association of Educators President Jeff Hubbard compared the directive to putting books on trial. He acknowledged that the directive — which creates district protocols for assessing and removing books — does leave room for books with historical value that may also contain sexual content. However, Hubbard said that questions remain, including who will set the standard that defines what is obscenity or pornographic material for books found in schools. (Atlanta News First)
