  1. A water main break in Marietta led to road closures on Powers Ferry Road between Delk and Terrell Mill roads due to unsafe conditions. The closure caused slow business for retailers in the area, with empty parking lots reported for many businesses. Repair crews worked diligently to fix the cracked surface of the road, and the plan was to reopen the roadway by Wednesday evening. (CBS Atlanta)
  2. Breyanla Cooper, a Cobb County mother, pleaded guilty to charges of malice murder, aggravated assault, and concealing a death after her 19-month-old son's body was found in the Chattahoochee River. Despite initially claiming her son was kidnapped, evidence from surveillance footage and GPS data on her car led officials to believe that she had killed her son and left him in the river. Cooper's cell phone data also revealed disturbing searches related to foster care and the river, and her older daughter disclosed that Cooper had said their time with Faheem was done. As a result, she was sentenced to life in prison by a Cobb County judge. (Fox 5)
  3. Cobb's Animal Services shelter is facing a dangerous overcrowding situation, with turn-ins increasing by 18 percent compared to last year, resulting in 321 animals in the shelter, which exceeds its capacity at 123 percent. The shelter has seen a staggering 1,026 more animals arriving this year than at the same time in 2022. The community is urged to consider adopting a pet to help alleviate the situation, and appointments can be booked by calling (770) 499-4136. (Cobb County, Georgia - Government)
