What's Open, Closed For New Year's Eve, Day In Marietta
The New Year's Eve and New Year's Day holidays will result in some closures and schedule changes in Marietta and Cobb County.
MARIETTA, GA — New Year's Eve may be different again this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. But something that hasn't changed is the closure of many services in Marietta for the holiday.
While New Year's Day is a holiday for federal employees, some services are starting their closures on New Year's Eve since Jan. 1 is a Saturday. Here are the openings and closings to know on and around New Year's Eve and New Year's Day:
- Cobb County government offices and courts are closed Friday.
- Municipal offices for the city of Marietta are closed Friday.
- The Cobb County Public Library system is closed Friday and Saturday for in-person and curbside services; however library's digital resources are available 24/7. Normal hours resume Monday, Jan. 3.
- The Cobb County School District and Marietta City Schools are on winter break until Jan. 5.
- Marietta garbage pick up: For residents within the city of Marietta's city limits, Friday trash pickup routes will be delayed until Monday. No yard waste will be picked up until next week.
- The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority will operate its services on adjusted schedules:
- Friday, Dec. 31: Buses and trains operate on Saturday schedules, while streetcars operate on schedules.
- Saturday, Jan. 1: Buses and trains operate on Saturday schedules, while streetcars operate on Sunday schedules.
- This is a holiday for federal employees and most U.S. Postal Service post offices are closed Saturday, but mail will be delivered and most postal offices will be open Friday.
- All banks will be closed Saturday.
- Grocery store hours vary.
