Teacher Robbed During School Field Trip

Inside the Police Reports: A professor at Piedmont College said she and her students had stopped at a McDonald's in the Norcross area to grab a bite to eat when her money bag was stolen.

A teacher said her money bag was taken while she and her students were eating in the Norcross area last week.

According to the Gwinnett County Police report, the professor at Piedmont College told the officer that they had just come back from Montana and were on their way back to Clayton.

The group stopped at the McDonald's at 6165 McDonough Dr. for a quick meal. When they left, a young man helped the professor open the door. In the process, he grabbed her money bag from under her arm and ran toward the road.

Since she was in charge of the expenses, the bag contained $300 cash, receipts from the trip and a piece of paper that contained all her internet passwords.

The professor told police that the suspect didn't say anything to her and didn't touch her. He was 5'6" and very skinny, and he wore a gray hooded sweatshirt. He also looked "very young and scared."

"When asked if he had any facial hair, she stated he did not look old enough to have facial hair," the officer wrote in the report.

A witness who frequently eats and works on his laptop at that McDonald's told police that he'd never seen the suspect before, and he had been sitting at a table in the middle of the restaurant for an hour. He didn't eat anything and was just looking at everyone, the witness said.

Police went to America's Best and Motel 6 on Oakbrook Parkway to follow up on the suspect, but both places did not have any new customers check in around that time. None of their customers fit the description of the suspect, either.
