Norcross Weekend Planner: Blue Trees for Kids, Art Exhibits and More
Check out what Norcross has planned for the weekend of April 12-14.

Despite Thursday's hail storm, the weather forecast shows a sunny and warm weekend ahead of us, so what better to do than enjoy it around town?
Here's what's happening in Norcross:
On Friday, the Norcross Welcome Center is debuting a new art exhibit featuring Salvadoran artist Renata Maia and international photographer Sue Copley. The opening reception, which starts at 7 p.m., will have the artists on hand, in addition to music and refreshments.

And downtown is having another art opening Saturday at Vargas & Harbin Studio Gallery with "Hues of Venice." The venue is featuring work from Armenian artist Armand M, an internationally acclaimed artist of impressionistic work who's 81 years young. Guests will be able to enjoy light refreshments, check out the art and meet the Armand M starting at 7 p.m.
Earlier on Saturday, though, the kids will have their own shot at Blue Trees activities, and it's free. Children of all ages are invited to Thrasher Park from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to make bird feeders, art, and talk about the purpose of the Blue Trees Project. Storytellers Bill and Jill of Lionheart Theatre also will tell tales about the environment.

Lastly, Hopewell Baptist Church is hosting a Gospel Extravaganza at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Everyone is invited to see the Wardlaw Brothers and the Lighthouse Singers perform in the sanctuary, and guests are invited to visit the memorial prayer garden that's being developed. The gospel event is a pre-celebration leading up to Hopewell's 20th anniversary of the church's sanctuary complex April 21.
