Man Reports Hobo With Shotgun

A Chamblee man said he watched his homeless acquaintance fire his gun on the street as he left to sell it May 7.

A Chamblee man who allowed a homeless man with a shotgun to sleep on his couch called police earlier this month after he believed the man fired the weapon outside the hotel where he was staying.

The complainant, who was staying at the , 2792 Shallowford Rd., told police the suspect, "Rico," knocked on his door after 6am May 7, according to a DeKalb County police report.

The victim said he had known Rico for six days and allowed him to stay on the couch in the hotel room. He also told police that Rico said he was selling a shotgun, and then he left.

Shortly thereafter, the victim said he left his hotel room and walked towards a nearby gas station when he saw Rico cross the street. The victim started to run away, but when he turned around when he heard a loud boom and saw a white light, so he continued to run, the report said. The victim told police it was too dark to see the weapon.

Rico was described as a black or Hispanic male between 40 and 45 years old with a ponytail. He is about 5 feet 7 inches, 150 pounds and was wearing a blue shirt.
