St. Pius Volleyball Player Listed Among Nation's Best Sophomores

outside hitter Emily Morrison was recently named to the Prepvolleyball.com Soph 79 list. The rankings recognize the top high school sophomores in the nation.

Morrison, a Norcross resident, received the honor, which is based solely on the student-athlete’s high school season, in late-March. Morrison led the Golden Lions in kills, helping St. Pius take the area championship with 32 wins on the season. The team finished ranked fifth in the state poll.

In addition to the national recognition, Morrison was one of only two sophomores named to the Georgia Volleyball Coaches Association AAA All-State team. She was also an All-Area selection.

The Soph 79 is an estimation of the top sophomores based on high school achievement in the country, according to the Prepvolleyball.com website. The recognition is based solely on high school achievement, not club acclaim, college potential or reputation.
