Thief Forces Way Into Oak Grove Home, Robs Mother, Daughter at Gunpoint

The man forced the mother and her daughter to the kitchen floor and fled with the woman's wedding and engagement rings, credits cards and a wallet.

An armed man forced a pregnant mother and her daughter into their Oak Grove home Tuesday afternoon and fled with the woman's wedding and engagement rings and wallet, DeKalb County police said.

The mother, 32, returned to her home at the 1500 block of Heatherwood Drive and parked her car in the driveway at about 1pm, according the the police report. She removed her 3-year-old daughter from the passenger's seat, and as she walked toward her carport door, the suspect approached her from behind and pushed her into the kitchen.

The suspect held a small, black handgun against her stomach and told her to remove her wedding and engagement rings worth nearly $6,500, the report said. The mother is eight months pregnant.

"Get on the floor of the kitchen," the suspect reportedly said. "I have a gun, and I will shoot you."

The mother and her daughter got on the kitchen floor, and the suspect dumped the woman's purse and stole her wallet and cell phone. The suspect told the mother to stay on the floor, and he fled on foot down the driveway, the report said.

The mother and daughter were not injured.

The suspect was described as a black male between 30 and 35 years old. He was about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighed about 150 pounds with a medium build. He wore dark–possibly green or khaki–clothing, including a long-sleeved shirt and a baseball cap. He was also clean shaven.
