4-Vehicle Pileup Shuts Down I-285 E In Sandy Springs

The accident near the Mount Vernon bridge Tuesday involved a tanker filled with nitric oxide and an overturned vehicle.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — All lanes have been shut down Tuesday afternoon at Interstate 285 eastbound near the Mount Vernon bridge due to a four-vehicle pileup, Sandy Springs Police said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Police said the crash involved a tanker filled with nitric oxide and an overturned vehicle. It is unknown when the roadway will reopen.
